Voluntary work constitutes an important pillar in the progress and development of both the civic and governmental sectors. It becomes even more significant in service-oriented, scientific, and professional fields. Scientific and professional associations - foremost among them our own, the Special Libraries Association - Arabian Gulf Chapter - form fertile ground for creativity and learning through volunteerism. Serving the field, the discipline, and the profession we love is an endeavor we take pride in, and through it, we contribute to advancing our profession and the wider scientific and research community.
As I welcome you all to the activities of this Association, I wish to reaffirm our vision: that our work is dedicated to service, giving, and volunteerism - delivering diverse activities both virtually and across the GCC countries, while raising the standards of professionals and their research contributions. We know that there are many bright talents in our region who need opportunities to shine. We are ready to provide and support such opportunities, and indeed, we have already done so. Therefore, I encourage young professionals to engage with the Association’s committees, volunteer, train in various activities, and participate actively - this is the path to cultivating future leaders. I also advise professors and professional leaders to set an example, offering their support through active participation and constant presence.
Our Association thrives because of all of us. Its financial support comes primarily from the revenues of its annual conference, and with sound financial management, it continues to shine and expand its activities. We made a promise to diversify and sustain our programs, and we have fulfilled that promise by being present across all GCC countries - sometimes with more than one in-person activity. Thus, we affirm that this Association continues with you, from you, and for you. Thank you all - especially the innovators in giving, volunteering, attending, and participating. You are always welcome.
